Courtney and Kevin’s intimate wedding at Chandler’s Gardens was for sure a highlight of my fall season. They had to forgo their original wedding plans from a much larger celebration in Oklahoma, to a small intimate affair in the outskirts of Mckinney. I was lucky to have been able to work with these two for not only their engagements and courthouse ceremony that summer, but to also document this special day where their close friends and family were able to come together to witness their union under the large oak tree at Chandler’s Gardens. Though not the day they had originally imagined going into their wedding year, they handled the sudden change of plans with such grace. And, I at least thought, this day carried with it just as much meaning and beauty.
Their intimate ceremony was held in the Circle of Trees, one of many wedding ceremony locations at Chandler’s Gardens. The floral installation by Elise Wood Designs stood as the beautiful backdrop, wrapping intricately around the oak that centered the outdoor space. Courtney and Kevin said their vows as the sun streamed through the tree canopies lighting perfectly their faces and tear filled eyes. I remember specifically this day, though feeling a little tired from the hectic year, while peering through my lens capturing the moments that unfolded I felt a sense of calmness and stability. This bizarre and exhausting year, while absolutely ridiculous, there was still a sense of hope. The quietness and simple beauty of the moments during this ceremony are what I remember the most.
