Last July, I flew to Washington D.C. (my first time in our nation’s capital!) for Brooklynn and Brian’s National Arboretum engagement session. Now July isn’t the most fun month out of the year to go outside and take some pictures. Guys, it was HOT. But Brooklynn and Brian were just as excited as I was to not only meet up for the first time but to use this beautiful spot as the setting for their engagements. Plus it seemed like we had the entire park to ourselves – a perk to running around outside in the middle of the summer! Oh, and can we discuss how cute their pup is?! When Brooklynn mentioned wanting to bring him along for a few shots, I was totally on board (as you know, dogs are LIFE).
This post is really for Brooklynn and Brian. It’s March 27th, 2020 and their wedding was supposed to be tomorrow at a stunning rustic venue in North Carolina. Amidst the uncertain time of COVID-19, they unfortunately had to postpone their celebration for later this year. I’m so happy that I will still be able to work with them again, just not as soon as we hoped. This time is so weird, strange, and definitely uneasy on top of having to plan a wedding and then having to reschedule. It’s completely unfair and my heart goes out to all the couples who have had to make the difficult decision to ultimately postpone their plans. As a wedding photographer, I never would have expected something like this to directly effect the industry I’ve poured my heart and soul into. But here we are, facing this whole thing together as a community – photographers, florists, planners, really all the vendors and of course, our amazing couples.
Here’s to an easy time with incredible people and a cute puppy.
